 omas. Maloney and Thomas explore the modern world and its structures throu
 gh two distinct techniques and viewpoints. Maloney layers icons of city li
 fe - billboard type\, bolts\, and bridges - to create 2D and 3D pieces tha
 t are both solid and fractured. Interweaving the old and new\, Maloney use
 s mixed media to encapsulate a world of simultaneous construction and deco
 nstruction.  Thomas' atmospheric pieces present an alternate portrait of t
 he modern environment. Cars\, containers\, and skylines subtly emerge from
  the smoke and fog. Using watercolor and oil\, Thomas investigates the rel
 ationship between the natural and artificial elements of the urban landsca
 pe. Both Maloney and Thomas focus on the urban skyline and its paradoxical
