 l be featured in a presentation at the Ceramics Program on April 23 and in
  the Japan Society's annual Rad Smith lecture on April 22 at Boston's Muse
 um of Fine Arts. These presentations and the Museum of Fine Arts' exhibiti
 on 'Celebrating Kyoto: Modern Arts from Boston's Sister City' are highligh
 ts in a series of programs celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Kyoto-B
 oston Sister City relationship.  Atmospheric fields of shimmering celadon 
 float on the taut\, tapered surfaces of Fukami's abstract sculptures and v
 essels. The large scale of his porcelain work required the inventive adapt
 ation of industrial processes and tools for his extraordinary accomplishme
 nts. In 2005\, Fukami was the only artist selected amongst previous Grand 
 Prize winners of the prestigious Faenza International Ceramic Art Competit
 ion to hold a solo exhibition at the International Ceramic Art Museum in F
