 ultemus commemorates the 400th anniversary of the birth of Italian compose
 r Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736) with an intimate performance of 
 his most popular sacred work\, Stabat Mater.  According to legend&mdash\;-
 and drawing inevitable comparisons to Mozart's fabled Requiem composition&
 mdash\;-Pergolesi accepted the commission despite suffering from tuberculo
 sis\, rising in a fit of devotional frenzy before passing away at the age 
 of 26.  With this monumental work as a backdrop\, Exsultemus presents a pr
 ogram of music from the Italian Baroque with additional music by Giovanni 
 Felice Sances\, Giacomo Carissimi\, Girolamo Frescobaldi\, and Natale Monf
