tel\nEvent Date Begin: 2010-06-10\nEvent Date End: 2010-06-10\n\nJeremy Me
ssersmith will be filling the Red Room with his sweet sounds on June 10th.
His songs have been compared to artists of both contemporary times and th
e past\, from Sufjan Stevens all the way back to The Beach Boys. Kaiser Ca
rtel will also be playing\, completing the night with their modest feel an
 d low-fi vibe. To call Jeremy Messersmith a musician is half-truth: He's
also a storyteller\, who has carefully crafted a trilogy of songs that nar
rate life. His first full-length release The Alcatraz Kid is a moving coll
ection of acoustic-driven lullabies with titles like &ldquo\;Novocain&rdqu
o\; and &ldquo\;Beautiful Children&rdquo\; that innocently question the pu
rpose of things to come. The integrity of these delicate songs immediately
struck a cord with critics and fans alike\, and captured the attention of
  Semisonic's Dan Wilson\, who offered to produce Messersmith's follow-up a
lbum\, The Silver City. The Silver City was a natural progression in sou
nd and reflection: the compositions grew fuller and more dynamic with a cl
assic-pop feel inspired by the Beach Boys and Beatles: While the topics fo
cused on midlife struggles with tracks like &ldquo\;Dead End Job&rdquo\; a
nd &ldquo\;Miracles.&rdquo\; Local and national attention soon followed wi
th NPR and college stations around the country\, followed by U.S. tours an
d sold-out shows in New York\, Chicago and Minneapolis. Kaiser Cartel are
the dynamic duo of Courtney Kaiser & Benjamin Cartel. Each previously lea
ders of their own indie bands\, they met on March 4th four years ago and f
ormed KaiserCartel when they joined forces to tour the country that summer
. They self-released an EP (Double Standard) and toured throughout the US
and UK on their own before signing to bluhammock music late last year. Ma
rch Forth\, their debut album &ndash\; was produced by Matt Hales (aka aqu
alung) and mixed by Matt and Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros) - and is full of low-f
 i\, harmony-heavy\, bittersweet songs full of charm.\n\nStart time: 8:00pm
