 Smith (leader/saxophones/flutes)\, Dino Govoni (saxophones/flute)\, Ken Ce
 rvenka (trumpet/flugelhorn)\, Walter Platt (trumpet/flugelhorn)\, Tim Ray 
 (piano)\, Keala Kaumeheiwa (acoustic bass)\, Steve Langone (drums and cymb
 als) and Ernesto Diaz (percussion) was organized over 11 years ago by Dani
 el Ian Smith as an aggregation dedicated to the performance of new music. 
 The group garnered considerable attention after its first performance (San
 ctuary Composers Forum) and word spread that this world class ensemble was
  truly one of a kind and quickly adapted and personalized the compositions
  that were written expressly for it. The NWJCO has released two recordings
  on the Big and Phat Jazz Productions label. No Place to Hide was released
  in the fall of 2007. Transitions is the most recent release (June 2010) a
 nd is currently garnering attention on the JazzTimes and All About Jazz we
