The Chinati Foundation was founded by artist Donald Judd with a very speci
fic mission as a permanent exhibition space and residency center. Today\,
sixteen years after Judd's death\, issues stemming from the founder's idea
 s\, present-day reality\, conservation\, and family intertwine\, making fo
r an interesting case study of personal museums and their legacies. A wine
reception will follow around the courtyard.\n\nPart of Room Views: A Seri
es of Conversations About the Gardner Museum:\nThis season's Room Views co
nversations focus on the idea of The Personal Museum. Isabella Gardner cre
ated one of the first personal museums in the United States\, establishing
a model for the intersection of art and personality that continues to inf
luence collectors and artists today. This series will explore several diff
erent examples of the personal museum\, from strong-minded collectors like
Gardner and Albert Barnes to museums created by contemporary artists. How
has the personal museum shaped our view of museums in general\, and what
we can experience there?\n\nStart time: 6:30pm
