 seums acquired the coin collection of German archaeologist and art histori
 an Margarete Bieber (1879&ndash\;1978)\, whose work on Hellenistic and Rom
 an sculpture and on Roman theater remains fundamental. This symposium will
  bring together art historians\, historians\, and numismatists from North 
 America and Europe. It will focus on the interrelation of coins and sculpt
 ure\, with an emphasis on the development of Greek portraiture and depicti
 ons of Roman empresses\, as well as on personifications in design.\n\nOrga
 nized by Carmen Arnold-Biucchi\, Damarete Curator of Ancient Coins\, Divis
 ion of Asian and Mediterranean Art\, Harvard Art Museums.\n\nIn addition t
