 ance Theater's newest production\, &ldquo\;Encounter\,&rdquo\; addresses i
 ssues of exclusion and military violence through a unique presentation of 
 Indian contemporary dance\, martial arts\, live singing\, and dialogue.  T
 he performance features a dance performed on a 12-foot-high wooden pillar 
 and martial arts sequences with bamboo cane weaponry.  All these elements 
 are integrated seamlessly into the story of a remarkable woman\, a peasant
  rebel named Dopdi.  \n\nLed by artistic directors Aparna Sindhoor and Ani
 l Natyaveda\, NDT has toured their original works of dance theater through
 out North America\, Europe\, and India to wide critical acclaim.  \n\nStar
