  NOW! The Anna Sokolow Contemporary Dance Company presents their annual sp
 ring concert.\n\nSokolow Now! is the only company exclusively performing t
 he repertory of the celebrated choreographer Anna Sokolow. Their passion f
 or the work is evident in their stunning\, unparalleled theatrical staging
 s of Sokolow's original choreograph.\n\nUnder the artistic of direction of
  Lorry May\, the company performs three internationally acclaimed dances t
 hat express the depth and diversity of Sokolow's work.  The program opens 
 with the beautifully conceived and executed 'Lyric Suite'\, choreographed 
 in 1953 to Alban Berg's score of the same name.  'Lyric Suite' was a major
  landmark in Sokolow's choreographic career\, establishing her place as a 
 major modern dance choreographer.\n\nThe second work of the evening\, 'A S
 hort Lecture and Demonstration on the Evolution of Ragtime' choreographed 
 in 1952\, is a light-hearted romp through the social dances of the 1920's 
 and 30's.  This dance is set to the same music and text that Ferdinand Jos
 eph LaMothe (stage name Jelly Roll Morton) used for his own lectures on th
 e evolution of ragtime.\n\nCompleting the program is Sokolow's 'Dreams'\, 
 choreographed in 1961 to a musical collage by composers Teo Macero\, Anton
  Webern and J.S. Bach.  'Dreams'\, Sokolow's signature work\, is her seari
 ng statement about man's inhumanity to man.\n\nMembers of The Anna Sokolow
  Contemporary Dance Company\, performing in the 2011 annual spring concert
 \, are Suellen Haag\, Whitney Hoke\, Nicola Iervasi\, Mark Kranz\, Kirsten
  McKinney\, Todd Lindamood\, Courtney Peix\, Mariah Steel\, Jaclyn Thompso
 n\,  and Josef Woodson.\n\nSokolow Now! is the only company exclusively pe
