 metallophones.   The Boston Village Gamelan has the distinction of being t
 he first community gamelan group in the United States dedicated to the per
 formance of traditional Javanese music.  The ensemble has performed regula
 rly throughout New England\, at the invitation of the Indonesian governmen
 t.  Most notably\, the ensemble shared the stage with the Chicago Symphony
