 \n\nFRANK BRETSCHNEIDER \nperforming a special experimental &ldquo\;EXP&rd
 quo\; set\n\nGoethe-Institut Boston \n170 Beacon Street \nBoston\, MA 0211
 6 \n8:00 p.m. / $15 or $12 with valid student ID\n\nFRANK BRETSCHNEIDER wo
rks as a musician\, composer and video artist in Berlin. His work is known
for precise sound placement\, complex\, interwoven rhythm structures and
its minimal\, flowing approach. Described as &ldquo\;abstract analogue poi
 ntilism\,&rdquo\; &ldquo\;ambience for spaceports&rdquo\; or &ldquo\;hypno
tic echochamber pulsebeat\,&rdquo\; Bretschneider's subtle and detailed mu
sic is echoed by his visuals: perfect translated realizations of the quali
ties found in music within visual phenomena.\n\nAfter studying fine arts a
nd publishing several graphic editions\, he began to satisfy his obsession
for electronic music in 1984 by starting his first tape experiments and r
unning a cassette label. With the founding of AG Geige in 1986\, one of th
e most influential bands in the East German musical underground\, he began
to explore the possibilities of an exchange between visual art and music
by various means such as film\, video\, and computer graphics. After the f
all of the wall and the break-up of AG Geige\, Bretschneider continued pro
ducing music and in 1996 he co-founded the record label Rastermusic (raste
r-noton since 1999).\n\nHis work has been released on such record labels a
 s 12k\, Mille Plateaux\, Quatermass\, raster-noton\, Staalplaat\, and Shit
katapult. He performs at music and new media festivals worldwide. This wil
l be his third Boston concert\, after two amazing club sets at the Middles
 ex.\n\nStart time: 8 pm - 11 pm
