 begins in the realm of Eastern music and ends with a pinnacle of the\nWest
 ern repertoire. Bridging these two pieces and their respective musical tra
 ditions will be the world-\npremiere performance of a Double Concerto for 
 Western Flute and Erhu (Chinese violin)\, written by\nHarvard staff member
  Oliver Caplan. This will be the first ever performance of a double concer
 to\njuxtaposing a Western instrumental soloist with an Eastern instrumenta
 l soloist. In addition\, our\nperformance of the Beethoven &ldquo\;Emperor
 &rdquo\; Concerto will feature an improvised cadenza that seeks to\nderive
  Eastern musical elements from within a Western framework.\n\nOur concert 
 therefore seeks to promote awareness of East/West fusion in music and to a
 dvance the scope\nwith which this cultural integration has been explored i
