 ure is an unprecedented convening of MIT creative arts faculty\, alumni an
 d students and their interdisciplinary colleagues from throughout the Inst
 itute\, who have created FAST\, the Festival of Art\, Science and Technolo
 gy that celebrates MIT's 'th anniversary.\nAlthough the arts may not be am
 ong the first things that come to mind when people think of MIT's leadersh
 ip in science and engineering\, they are in fact a &ldquo\;secret ingredie
 nt&rdquo\; that feeds the Institute's one-of-a-kind culture of invention a
 nd creativity. This unique environment enables boundaries to be bridged\, 
 new fields to be founded with astonishing fluency\, and world-changing ent
 ities &ndash\; like the Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS) and the 
 Media Lab &ndash\; to be launched and to flourish.\nOn April 16th\, we cel
 ebrate this culture and engage in a future-oriented series of debates\, de
 monstrations\, and open studios. We examine current practice and lay the g
 roundwork for the future\, both by examining the most promising artistic a
 nd theoretical questions and by exploring the most effective pedagogical\,
  research and production infrastructure that will assure a vigorous expans
 ion of MIT's creative culture for generations to come.\n\nStart time: 9:30
