-11\nEvent Date End: 2012-05-11\n\nLaura Wortman and Kagey Parrish are The
Honey Dewdrops. They make their home in the foothills of the Blue Ridge M
ountains in Charlottesville\, Virginia.\n\nThe couple has been playing mus
ic in some capacity for over 15 years\, but honed in on their natural duet
abilities 7 years ago when they met for the first time in college. It was
their love of folk music that brought them together and has since taken t
hem out on the road to tour fulltime as the award-winning duet they are to
day.\n\nWriting and singing in the veins of folk and old country music\, t
he Dewdrops entwine harmony singing with tight instrumentation and craft s
ongs that are simple and fine-tuned. Theirs are new songs from the souther
n mountains that ring with originality.\n\nAfter their appearance and firs
t place win on a 2008 talent show broadcast of NPR's &ldquo\;A Prairie Hom
e Companion&rdquo\;\, the Dewdrops began their careers as songwriters and
have since released two critically acclaimed albums\, &ldquo\;If the Sun W
 ill Shine&rdquo\; (2009) and &ldquo\;These Old Roots&rdquo\; (2010) both o
f which have charted at the #1 and #2 positions on the Folk DJ-L Charts fo
r 2010.\n\nAri & Mia are a soulful and spirited acoustic accompanied duo e
xploring the traditions of Southern Appalachia\, Northeastern fiddle music
\, and the realm where their own compositions cross paths with older tradi
tions. Their hearts also lie with early American swing\, jazz\, and bluegr
ass music. Combine this with their bold approach to song and tune-writing
and their interpretations of traditional music and the result will open he
arts and dance floors. Ari & Mia's 'intricate arrangements\, soaring harmo
nies\, infectious grooves and intuitive improvisations combine an old-time
sensibility with a truly adventurous spirit\,' says Hankus Netsky of New
England Conservatory. Their new album\, 'Unruly Heart\,' reached #2 on the
national folk radio charts only 2 months after its release this past Dece
mber\, 2010.\n\nAriel Friedman\, a classically trained cellist from the Bo
ston area\, is one of few musicians to be challenging the boundaries of ce
llo-playing. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2008 where she
studied cello performance with Hans Jorgen Jensen\, and will get a masters
in Contemporary Improvisation from New England Conservatory in spring\, 2
 011. A winner of ASTA's 2009 Alternative Styles Award\, she is in current
 exploration of American roots traditions\, 1920's and 30's jazz\, and in c
omposing songs and tunes influenced by her diverse musical tastes. She per
forms\, tours\, and records with Scottish National Fiddle champion Hanneke
  Cassel\, is a member of the Boston-based trad band\, Long Time Courting\,
and plays with New England's highly acclaimed fiddle band Childsplay. She
teaches at various fiddle camps during the summer and has her own private
studio.\n\nMia Friedman is an energetic and eclectic fiddler\, singer and
banjo player. She started playing suzuki violin at an early age\, and mad
e the switch to more traditional fiddle styles when she was 12\, leaning t
owards Scottish\, Appalachian\, and French Canadian tunes. Spending summer
s at fiddle camps around the states\, she fell in love with these old trad
itions and learned from some of the masters. Now in her third year at New
England Conservatory\, Mia is writing songs and playing music that blend t
hese traditions with jazz\, classical and avant-garde influences. She rece
ntly won the 2010 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song 'Across the
Water' in the folk category. Winner of the New England Regional Scottish
Fiddle Championship in 2006\, she now plays with Ariel in many venues and
dance halls around the Northeast. Mia also sings with the neo-soul group\,
'The Love Experiment.'\n\nFeatured guests on their new album\, 'Unruly He
art\,' include grammy-nominated Sarah Jarosz\, fiddler extraordinaire Eden
MacAdam-Somer of the band Notorious\, Rebecca Wudarski and Owen Marshall
on guitar\, Ben Krakauer on banjo\, and Ari and Mia's sister\, Shoshana Fr
 iedman.\n\nAri & Mia's first CD\, titled Lady and the Pants\, was released
