 6-18\n\nThe Boston New Music Initiative\, Inc. will conclude its second co
 ncert season with an evening of chamber works by seven living composers on
  Saturday\, June 18 at the First Church in Boston\, 66 Marlborough Street.
  The concert marks the debut of music director Douglas McRay Daniels\, who
  joined the BNMI staff in April 2011. BNMI will perform the work of Timoth
 y A. Davis (Words of Love and Despair for flute\, clarinet\, and piano)\, 
 Moon Young Ha (Fairy Tale for flute\, clarinet\, piano\, violin\, and viol
 oncello)\, Peter Van Zandt Lane (Fugue State for brass quintet)\, Jeff Mye
 rs (Makassar Strait for bass clarinet\, vibraphone\, piano\, violin\, and 
 violoncello)\, Eric Nathan (Spires for brass quintet)\, and Kirsten Volnes
 s (Hints and Hauntings for contrabass and electronics). Also featured on t
 he program is Creatio ex Nihilo for viola\, violoncello\, piano\, and perc
 ussion by 17-year old composer Thomas Sturm. \nThe work was selected in Se
 ptember 2010 for the American Festival for the Arts/BNMI Young Composer Aw
 ard\, designed to provide a young composer with a performance opportunity 
 on BNMI's annual concert series. Amongst the performers featured on the co
 ncert are flutist Deirdre Viau and clarinetist Yhasmin Valenzuela (Quinta 
 Esencia)\; clarinetist Elise Kopesky\, violist Alex Duval\, and pianist Ch
 ristopher Orzech (Animus Ensemble)\; percussionist Nicholas Gleason (Sinop
 ia Quartet)\; cellist Christopher Homick\; and pianist Timothy Maurice\; a
 nd contrabassist Ryan Ford. This concert will be the first appearances wit
 h BNMI for Ms. Kopesky\, Mr. Orzech and Mr. Ford. The concert is BNMI's si
 xth and final in the organization's second season\, following concerts in 
 September\, November\, December\, February\, and May. The concert begins a
 t 8 pm. Tickets are available at the door on the evening of the concert\, 
 and online up until the day of the concert. \nABOUT THE BOSTON NEW MUSIC I
 NITIATIVE The Boston New Music Initiative\, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
  organization dedicated to maintaining an international network of compose
 rs\, performers\, conductors\, directors\, and champions of music in order
  to generate new music concerts\, compositions\, collaborations\, and comm
 issions. Incorporated in 2010\, the organization aims to advance the caree
 rs of its members in the field of new music by serving as a resource for n
