 cently installed Japanese folding screens featuring processions of a Korea
 n envoy and a Japanese territorial lord illustrates a diplomatic phenomeno
 n: scholars have suggested that Korean envoys helped foster the transmissi
 on of literati painting styles between China\, Korea\, and Japan in the 17
 th and 18th centuries. Focusing on these screens and the literati painting
 s in the current installation\, this gallery talk will discuss Korean emba
 ssies in Edo period Japan and the artistic exchanges ensuing from these ce
