 \nNo individual has had a greater impact on early modern art and its histo
 riography than Giorgio Vasari&mdash\;courtier and architect to Duke Cosimo
  de' Medici\, founder of the Florentine Accademia\, and renowned author of
  Lives of the Artists. On the quincentennial anniversary of his birth\, &l
 dquo\;Vasari/500&rdquo\; will bring together an international group of sch
 olars to reassess the Tuscan artist's central\, if deeply contested\, role
  in charting histories of the Renaissance.\n\nEvents will begin on Thursda
 y with a plenary lecture by Alessandro Nova\, Kunsthistorisches Institut i
 n Florenz\, sponsored by the Harvard Art Museums. On Friday and Saturday\,
  featured symposium participants include Carmen Bambach\, The Metropolitan
  Museum of Art\; Elizabeth Cropper\, Center for Advanced Study in the Visu
 al Arts\; Massimiliano Rossi\, Universit&agrave\; del Salento\; and Philip
