 sit and talk to many of the alternative rock artists dominating today's mu
 sic\, you'll find that many of them pay homage to the The Psychedelic Furs
 . Led by front man and songwriter Richard Butler\, the Furs won over fans 
 and critics alike by combining poetic lyrics\, innovative rhythms and melo
 dies driven by an aggressive\, punk desperation. Through it all\, the band
  scored major hits with 'Love My Way\,' 'Pretty In Pink\,' 'Heaven\,' 'The
  Ghost In You\,' and &ldquo\;Heartbreak Beat&rdquo\; in all releasing seve
 n studio albums and spawning several compilations\, a boxed set\, and a li
 ve concert DVD.\nThe Psychedelic Furs came together in England's emerging 
 punk scene in 1977 initially consisting of Richard Butler (vocals)\, Tim B
 utler (bass guitar)\, Paul Wilson (drums)\, Duncan Kilburn (saxophone)\, a
 nd Roger Morris (guitars). By 1979\, this line up had expanded to a sextet
  with Vince Ely replacing Wilson on drums and John Ashton being added on g
 uitar.\nThe Tom Tom Club was created by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth in 
 1981. Graduates from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1974\, they move
 d to New York City where they founded Talking Heads as a trio with David B
 yrne in 1975. Chris played drums\, Tina played bass and David sang and pla
 yed guitar. In November of 1976 they signed to Sire Records and released t
 heir first singles. In 1977 they were joined by Jerry Harrison (of the ori
 ginal Modern Lovers) from Boston. Jerry played guitar and keyboards.\n\nSt
