 TES RESEARCH FOUNDATION   Union Church\, in the Waban section of Newton\, 
 is the setting for a joyous Holiday Concert to benefit the Juvenile Diabet
 es Research Foundation (JDRF) on Saturday evening\, December 10 at 7:00 pm
 .    Sponsored by Amaras Art Alliance of Watertown\, MA the concert will b
 e filled with Broadway tunes\, classical melodies\, the latest pop music\,
  and of course holiday favorites.  And for all those who just can't resist
  singing - a sing along for all to enjoy.    The concert will feature 17 y
 ear old tenor Alex Carroll\, a person with Type I diabetes\, who will host
  and perform along with pop singer Danielle Starz\; baritone\, Carl Wrubel
 \; pianist\, William Merrill\; and the Kranial Kandy Band. &ldquo\;I want 
 to be part of a world that lives without diabetes\,&rdquo\; says Carroll. 
  &ldquo\;I hope that through my efforts as a singer and actor I can bring 
 attention to the need for more research for Diabetes.  I am so pleased tha
 t along with the other performers we can help JDRF continue their amazing 
 work.&rdquo\;  The aim of Amaras Art Alliance is to promote the rich cultu
 res of the people's all over the world as well as to facilitate the exchan
 ge of ideas and expressions between cultures through performances\, exhibi
 ts\, lectures\, publications\, children's art camp\, youth cultural travel
  tours and funding of special programs. Amaras creates opportunities for p
 eople to observe\, get involved and enjoy the traditions of all cultures\,
 - from folk to the fine arts.  The organization invites everyone to join t
 he voyage.  The mission of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is to
  find a cure for diabetes through the support of research. JDRF is also co
 mmitted to developing new and better treatments that improve the lives of 
 people with type 1 diabetes in the near term and keep them healthy while w
 e advance toward a cure. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children
  with type 1 diabetes\, JDRF has funded more than $1.5 billion in research
 . In FY2010 alone\, JDRF provided more than $107 million for type 1 diabet
 es research. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support 
 research and research-related education. In FY2010\, JDRF funded research 
 projects in 19 countries\, including more than 40 human clinical trials.
