 s passionate musicality and impressive technique\, the Shanghai Quartet ha
 s become one of the world's foremost chamber ensembles. Its elegant style 
 melds the delicacy of Eastern music with the emotional breadth of Western 
 repertoire\, allowing it to traverse musical genres from masterpieces of W
 estern music to cutting-edge contemporary works. Formed at the Shanghai Co
 nservatory in 1983\, the Quartet has worked with the world's most distingu
 ished artists and tours the major centers of Europe\, America and Asia. Am
 ong innumerable collaborations with noted artists\, they have performed wi
 th the Tokyo\, Juilliard and Guarneri Quartets\, Yo-Yo Ma\, Lynn Harrell a
 nd Peter Serkin. The Quartet has a long history of championing new music a
 nd has premiered works by such composers as Krzysztof Penderecki\, Chen Yi
 \, Bright Sheng and Zhou Long. Their extensive discography includes more t
 han 25 recordings\, the most recent of which are the complete Beethoven St
 ring Quartets on Camerata. The Quartet currently serves as Quartet-in-Resi
 dence at Montclair State University and Ensemble-in-Residence with the Sha
 nghai Symphony Orchestra. They are visiting guest professors at the Shangh
 ai Conservatory and the Central Conservatory in Beijing. Program includes 
 Beethoven String Quartet in F major\, Penderecki's String Quartet No. 3\, 
 and Brahms Piano Quintet in F minor with renowned pianist Hung-Kuan Chen.
