 day\, January 8\, 2012\, at 3:00 p.m.\, at the historic Loring-Greenough H
 ouse\, 12 South Street\, Jamaica Plain MA\, including music of Barbara Str
 ozzi\, Isabella Leonarda and Elizabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre.\n\nMee
 t Ensemble 44 at afternoon tea following the program.\n\nThe Sunday Aftern
 oon at the 'Greenough House series recreates the atmosphere of 18th and 19
 th century &ldquo\;musical afternoons&rdquo\; in the 1760 Loring-Greenough
  House\, twice monthly\, October to May. Tickets are available at the door
 : donation $15 ($10 seniors\, students and JPTC members). Space is limited

 certs@aim.com.\n\nEnsemble 44\, so named for the Studio 44 in Boston in wh
 ich it rehearses\, came into existence out of a \nwish to explore the work
 s of Baroque women composers. Their first CD\, Six by Three: 6 Sonatas by 
 3 \nWomen Composers\, was released last year and contains works of Elisabe
 th-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre\, \nAnna Amalia von Preusen\, and Isabella 
 Leonarda. \n\nKaren Burciaga (violin) discovered early music while an unde
 rgraduate at Vanderbilt University. She \nlater earned an MM in Early Musi
 c Performance from the Longy School of Music\, studying violin with \nDana
  Maiben and viol with Jane Hershey. She has performed with the King's Noys
 e\, Newport \nBaroque\, Exsultemus\, the Arcadia Players\, La Follia Austi
 n\, and other period ensembles\, including \nappearances at the Boston\, B
 loomington\, and Amherst Early Music Festivals. She is a founding \nmember
  of Seven Times Salt\, an English consort\, and Long & Away\, a consort of
  viols. Karen has \ncoached violin band and masque performances on the str
 ing faculty of the Texas TOOT in Austin. Her \nother musical interests inc
 lude traditional Scottish fiddle and dance\, American shape-note singing\,
  \nand Italian Renaissance dance. \n\nHannah Davidson (viola da gamba) beg
 an performing early music with the Quadrivium\, under the \ndirection of M
 arleen Montgomery\, and can be heard on the Revels CD Sing We Now of Chris
 tmas. \nHaving soon discovered a love for the viol\, she went on to study 
 with Sarah Cunningham\, Laura \nJeppesen\, and at the Longy School of Musi
 c with Jane Hershey\, as well as in intensive summer \nworkshops. She has 
 performed on the SoHIP summer concert series with La Donna Musicale\, \nEn
 semble Soleil and Heliotrope Consort\, and has several times been a recipi
 ent of the Silbiger Grant \nAward to bring music for viols and voices to c
 hurch services. Hannah served as President of the Viola \nda Gamba Society
  of New England from 2006-2010 and remains active in the VdGS-NE overseein
 g the \nnewsletter and organizing workshops. \n\nTeri Kowiak (voice) is a 
 professional musician based in the Boston area. A recent graduate of the 
 \nLongy School of Music's Early Music Program\, she specializes in the his
 torically-inspired performance \nof medieval\, renaissance and baroque mus
 ic while also performing a wide range of styles including \nclassical\, ja
 zz\, traditional Irish/Celtic\, and premiering new compositions. She is a 
 featured vocalist on \nthe premier solo album Redline by bagpiper Michael 
 McNutt (of Tartanic) and has performed with \nCappella Clausura\, the Sera
 phim Singers\, the Harvard Early Music Society and the choir of the \nChur
 ch of Our Saviour in Brookline\, MA. Recent performances include the role 
 of La Po&eacute\;sie in \nHarvard Early Music Society's Les Plaisirs de la
  Paix in December and her debut with Spanish baroque \ngroup El Fuego in J
 anuary. \n\nKathleen McDougald (harpsichord) holds a masters degree in har
 psichord performance from Longy \nSchool of Music. She is the creator of B
 oston-based Studio 44 and founding member of Ensemble 44. \nShe has been o
 rganist and choir director at Church of the Good Shepherd in Woburn and ot
 her \nMassachusetts churches. She taught music in the Boston Public School
 s\, and has taught privately for \nmany years. \n\nBuilt in 1760\, the Lor
 ing-Greenough House\, a local landmark listed on the Massachusetts and Nat
 ional Registers of Historic Places\, is located at 12 South Street (at the
  Civil War Monument) in Jamaica Plain\, MA. It is owned and managed by the
  non-profit Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club\, Inc. as a historic house museum a
