 Agency\, the inaugural Landscape Lectures will address how landscape desig
 n has changed the shape of American cities and open spaces in recent years
 \, representing a shift in the way designers approach the challenges of ur
 ban life.\n\n&ldquo\;The Landscape Lectures will focus on contemporary iss
 ues in urban landscape design and the renewal of our connection with the e
 nvironment and with land itself\,&rdquo\; said Waldheim. &ldquo\;The trans
 formative work of six leading practitioners of contemporary landscape arch
 itecture will shed light on the most relevant topics in urban landscape de
 sign.&rdquo\;\n\nThe opening lecture will be presented by Peter Walker\, a
  significant figure in the field of landscape architecture for more than f
 ive decades. His career includes a wide range of projects that demonstrate
  a specific concern for urban and environmental issues. He recently comple
 ted work on the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. Other speakers in the seri
 es include Michael Van Valkenburgh\, Ken Smith\, Martha Schwartz\, James C
 orner\, and George Hargreaves.\n\nStart time: 7:00 p.m.
