 picting Coyolxauhqui\, the Aztec moon goddess. Since then\, other impressi
 ve public monuments have come to light in downtown Mexico City\, in the ar
 ea occupied by the sacred precinct of Tenochtitlan. Archaeologists recentl
 y uncovered the largest Aztec sculpture ever found\, that of the earth god
 dess Tlaltecuhtli. Bakwin lecturer Leonardo L&oacute\;pez Luj&aacute\;n wi
 ll review the history of archaeology in Mexico City\, and then focus on th
 e new Tlaltecuhtli stone\, undertaking an iconographic\, and symbolic anal
