 ency\, the inaugural Landscape Lectures will address how landscape design 
 has changed the shape of American cities and open spaces in recent years\,
  representing a shift in the way designers approach the challenges of urba
 n life.\n\n&ldquo\;The Landscape Lectures will focus on contemporary issue
 s in urban landscape design and the renewal of our connection with the env
 ironment and with land itself\,&rdquo\; said Waldheim. &ldquo\;The transfo
 rmative work of six leading practitioners of contemporary landscape archit
 ecture will shed light on the most relevant topics in urban landscape desi
 gn.&rdquo\;\n\nThe opening lecture will be presented by Peter Walker\, a s
 ignificant figure in the field of landscape architecture for more than fiv
 e decades. His career includes a wide range of projects that demonstrate a
  specific concern for urban and environmental issues. He recently complete
 d work on the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. Other speakers in the series
  include Michael Van Valkenburgh\, Ken Smith\, Martha Schwartz\, James Cor
 ner\, and George Hargreaves.\n\nStart time: 7:00 p.m.
