 oolofmusic.org\n\nMore about the musicians:\n\nEmil Altschuler\n\nOne of A
merica's finest up and coming virtuoso violinists\, Emil Altschuler\, perf
orms at a world class standard and possesses a commanding stage presence.
He holds degrees from The Juilliard School and The Yale School of Music. M
aster violinist\, Erick Friedman\, wrote of him: &ldquo\;&hellip\;a very g
ifted violinist who possesses the talent and capability to become a truly
outstanding violinist of his generation&hellip\;and sound and accuracy of
intonation that are truly extraordinary.'\n\nHis brilliant technique and v
igorous performance energy has received ovations in venues such as Lincoln
  Center\, San Francisco's Helen Von Ammon's Emerging Artist Series\, The A
spen Music Festival\, and Italy's Castello di Galeazza. As a featured solo
ist\, he has appeared with the Aspen Young Artist's Orchestra\, the Bingha
mton Philharmonic and the Binghamton University Chamber Orchestra.\n\nEmil
performs regularly with Belgian guitarist J&eacute\;r&ocirc\;me Mouffe in
the AM Duo interpreting Spanish\, Tango\, and contemporary works alongsid
e classical masterpieces. The Hardwick Gazette raves of them &ldquo\;coord
ination was spectacular\, with sensitive phrasing and a depth of feeling i
n their touch&rdquo\; and The Armenian Weekly says&ldquo\;musicians who ar
e also artists.&rdquo\; Most recently\, he has teamed up with Ukranian pia
nist Artem Belogurov.\n\nAs a recording artist he has released his debut a
 lbum &ldquo\;Emil Altschuler &ndash\; Violin\,&rdquo\; arranged with his b
rother Josiah Altschuler\, with a gypsy jazz style guitar accompaniment. R
ecently\, he was selected by renowned author and violin pedagogue Janice T
ucker Rhoda to record 'The ABCs of Violin for the Absolute Beginner\, Book
1' for publisher Carl Fischer Music. He is also a featured artist on his
brother's first album 'Murder Ballads and Love Songs for Cello and Voice.'
His latest project to be recorded this season includes works by contempor
ary composer Tony Schemmer. This past summer he taught at University of Ne
w Hampshire's Summer Youth Music School. He currently teaches at the Cambr
idge Center for Adult Education and the New School of Music in Cambridge\,
MA.\n\nReviews:\n&ldquo\;&hellip\;a very gifted violinist who possesses t
he talent and the capability to become a truly outstanding violinist of hi
s generation&hellip\;and sound and accuracy of intonation that are truly e
 xtraordinary.&rdquo\;\n-Erick Friedman\, concert violinist\, Prof. Yale Sc
hool of Music\n\n&ldquo\;Violinist Emil Altschuler&hellip\;playing is impe
ccable\, with careful blending of timbres\, exquisite phrasing and liberal
doses of pizzazz when required.&rdquo\;\n-Dr. Robert Wyatt\, Director of
 Music\, Highfield Hall\, Falmouth\, MA\n\n&ldquo\;&hellip\;coordination wa
s spectacular\, with sensitive phrasing and a depth of feeling in their to
 uch&rdquo\;\n-David K. Rodgers\, The Hardwick Gazette\n\n&ldquo\;&hellip\;
musicians who are also artists.&rdquo\;\n-The Armenian Weekly\n\n&ldquo\;S
tring Shift &ndash\; Pretty much nothing sounds better to us right now tha
n the idea of sitting in a Parisian night-club\, sipping a vermouth cassis
\, and taking in a show by Gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and his Q
uintette du Hot Club de France. But since that's never going to happen (un
less some enterprising mad scientist decides to put together the &ldquo\;M
y First Time Machine&rdquo\; kit that Santa brought) we'll settle for the
next best option: a performance by violinist Emil Altschuler and guitarist
J&eacute\;r&ocirc\;me Mouffe on guitar. They'll be laying down their take
s on classical works\, Spanish folk music\, and mountain songs at Hunneman
Hall in the Brookline Public Library. (Speaking of mountain songs: if you
like a little modern-day gothic freak mixed into your folk music\, head t
 o Myspace to hear Altschuler's terrifying\, lurching\, American primitive-
style cover of Primus's &ldquo\;Over the Falls&rdquo\; with his side proje
 ct Ill Brutto.)&rdquo\;\n-Shaula Clark\, The Boston Phoenix\, Editor's Pic
ks\n\n&ldquo\;Altschuler and Mouffe's performance of Piazzolla at the Gard
ner was the highlight of the evening\; their playing combined the sensuali
ty\, elegance\, and edginess balanced with refinement that make Piazzolla'
s music so beautiful.&rdquo\;\n-Peyman Farzinpour\, Music Director and Con
ductor of the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra\n\n---\n\n\nArtem Belogurov\n
