 ys_new_music_by_Harvard_Composers\nEvent Date Begin: 2012-05-12\nEvent Dat
e End: 2012-05-12\n\nGerman ensemble musikFabrik will play six world premi
eres by members of the Harvard Group for New Music on Saturday\, May 12 at
Harvard's newly-renovated Paine Hall. The Harvard Group for New Music\, o
r HGNM\, comprised of composers from the graduate program in music\, invit
es guest ensembles for four different concerts each year.\nThe pieces feat
ured on this program are 'Over-Proximity' by Edgar Barroso (b. 1977\, Mexi
 co)\; 'Where is There - mini-creature no. I' by Sivan Cohen-Elias (b. 1976
 \, Israel)\; 'Pantomime-Aria' by Justin Hoke (b. 1987\, Pennsylvania)\; 'N
 ous-Apparatus' by Timothy McCormack (b. 1984\, Ohio)\, &ldquo\;For every h
uman being who looks up at the moon will know&rdquo\; by Ian Power (b. 198
4\, New York)\; and 'Spuler' by Sabrina Schroeder (b. 1979\, Canada). The
pieces represent a broad range of contemporary concert music styles\, and
each is scored for some combination of musikFabrik's traveling ensemble in
 struments: flute\, clarinet\, french horn\, trombone\, violin\, cello\, pe
rcussion and piano.\nEnsemble musikFabrik (German for 'Music Factory') has
been commissioning new works and performing unknown ones since 1991. The
results of their extensive work\, which usually takes place in close colla
boration with the composers\, is presented by the Cologne-based internatio
nal soloist ensemble in over 100 concerts a year in both Germany and abroa
d\, at festivals\, in their own series &bdquo\;musikFabrik in WDR\,&rdquo\
; and in regular radio recordings and CD productions. Contrary to what its
name suggests\, Ensemble musikFabrik does not have a boss. With its democ
ratic base\, the musicians themselves take responsibility for making all i
mportant decisions. This particularly applies to concert programming\, whi
ch consists of interdisciplinary projects that include: live electronics\,
  dance\, theatre\, film\, literature\, visual arts\, chamber music and imp
rovisation.\nMore information on this concert\, HGNM\, or Paine Hall is av
ailable at hgnm.org\, or by e-mailing Ian Power at ianhpower@gmail.com. Mo
re information on musikFabrik is available at musikfabrik.eu.\n\nStart tim
