 h Wolff has clearly demonstrated a special affinity for the music of Samue
 l Barber--whose long overdue rehabilitation is well underway after much di
 sdain directed at his immediately accessible music during the 20th century
 . Wolff has often turned to Barber works for special occasions including t
 he NEC Philharmonia's performance at Boston's Symphony Hall in 2010 when h
 e led the Adagio for Strings  and in 2008 when he played Music from a Scen
 e from Shelley on his first performance with the Philharmonia after being 
 appointed Calderwood Director of Orchestras. Wolff's performance of the Vi
 olin Concerto with Hilary Hahn and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra is one o
 f the most admired recordings of the work . It forms the backdrop of a new
  film\, Deep Blue Sea by noted British director Terence Davies that will b
