 a number of endangered species\, including jaguars\, Mexican gray wolves\,
  Panamanian golden frogs\, and hyacinth macaws? In order to promote awaren
 ess of the endangered animals at the Zoo and across the world\, Stone Zoo 
 is hosting its third Annual Endangered Species Day Coloring & Writing Cont
 est. Children are invited to draw a picture of their favorite endangered s
 pecies or write a short piece about the animal that details why it is enda
 ngered and what we can do to help.   \n\nEntries are now being accepted in
  the Animal Discovery Center until May 18 at 4:00 PM. The winners from eac
 h age group will receive a certificate of recognition and the honor of hav
 ing their work framed and displayed in the Animal Discovery Center.\n\nEnd
 angered Species Day is observed nationally by numerous agencies\, environm
 ental groups\, zoos\, parks\, aquariums\, wildlife refuges\, and other org
 anizations on the third Friday of May\, and is an opportunity for people a
 cross the country to learn about the importance of protecting our nation's
  wildlife.\n\nWHO: Kids ages 3-10 are welcome to participate and will be j
 udged in three age groups (ages 3-4\, ages 5-7\, ages 8-10).\n\nRULES:\n1.
  Submissions (one per person) must be on standard 8 &frac12\; x 11 inch pa
 per (letter size).\n2. Pictures must include your favorite endangered spec
 ies and should be done in pencil\, crayon\, or marker. NO chalk\, paint\, 
 glue\, or computer illustrations.\n3. Written pieces can be presented in t
 he form of a paragraph\, poem\, acrostic\, or any other creative delivery 
 and should be typed or neatly hand-written.\n4. Entries are due to the Ani
 mal Discover Center no later than 4:00 PM on Friday\, May 18.\n\nWHEN:All 
 entries are due in the Animal Discovery Center by 4:00 PM on Friday\, May 
 18.\nThe winners from each age group will be announced and contacted on Sa
 turday\, May 19.\n\nStart time: 4:00 pm
