  of death metal'. Josh Homme was inspired to write music that would be a c
 ross between The Eagles and death metal\; their debut album was the result
 . In a 2003 interview Homme described the sound of the band as a combinati
 on of 'bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned He
