 31\n\nKaoruko comes from Tokyo where she worked in the nightclubs singing 
 and playing piano. She came to Boston in 1990 to study at Berklee College 
 of Music where she studied jazz composition with Herb Pomeroy\, Greg Hopki
 ns and met her mentor of jazz Hal Crook. Kaoruko now leads her band  the K
 aoruko Jazz Ensemble on the local scene.\nThe first hour of the jam is a c
 oncert\, featuring the host band - some of the finest musicians from the a
 rea and often featuring great players from NYC and beyond. After the first
  hour\, we open it up to the 'jammers' who get the opportunity sit in and 
 hone their skills trading licks with some of the finest players in the are
