Premiere performances of THE FACE by Donald Crockett are scheduled to take
place in the days before at the Japan America Theatre in Los Angeles Augu
 st 25\, 27 & 28\, 2012. THE FACE is a multidisciplinary chamber opera (fea
turing music\, film and choreography)\, which was conceived and created by
Los Angeles-based composer Donald Crockett\, on the faculty at USC Thornt
on School of Music\, and USC poet David St. John. The performance also fe

o\;ambitious and eclectic&rdquo\; (NY Times) Firebird Ensemble\, also from

bout the price of fame\, desire and creativity. The central character\, a
once famous poet named Raphael\, struggles with the recent loss of his lov
er/muse\, while juggling the demands of a movie being made about his life
and his increasing notoriety. The narrative is both passionate and raw in
its candor\, offering an insightful view of the human condition as experie
nced by an artist/poet.\n\nTickets for the Boston Performance are free thr
