 s and more experienced carvers. Hand-carving techniques and stone carving 
 lore will be demonstrated and discussed.  Use of the Studio's tools and a 
 modest (4-8) pound piece of white/translucent alabaster are included in th
 e fee. Discussions of safe studio practices and stone and tool sourcing he
 lp make this  session an excellent initiation to the craft of stone sculpt
 ure. A strong emphasis will be put on tool usage as well the act of lookin
 g into the rock for imagery! Students will emerge with a stone sculpture i
 n progress.. Group will have a a short lunch and rest\, accompanied by dig
 ital slide show! Ages 12+
