 \n\nVirginia Lee Burton was a human dynamo. Wife of sculptor and teacher G
 eorge Demetrios and mother of two\, 'Jinnee' Demetrios successfully juggle
 d her domestic life and two separate careers\; one as a highly successful 
 author and illustrator of children's books\, and a second as founder of th
 e Folly Cove Designers.\n\nThe Folly Cove Designers\, a group of 45 design
 er-craftsmen\, worked together from 1938 to 1969 creating hand carved lino
 leum blocks used for printing\, primarily on fabric. Burton taught the men
  and women of the group the basic elements of design and instructed them o
 n how to carve and print. Her high standards and artistic talents inspired
  the diverse group and resulted in one of the most successful and beloved 
 artist guilds in New England's history.\n
