nd: 2013-01-27\n\nBeverly MA - Leisure Art\, in collaboration with the Gal
lery at Porter Mill\, is pleased to announce it's first exhibition of the
new year\, Reconstructed: My Hands\, Our History\, from January 2nd throug

 n Thursday\, January 3rd\, 2013 from 5:00-9:00pm\, which coincides with Be
verly's First Thursday Art Walk. The gallery is located at 95 Rantoul Stre
et Beverly MA.\nReconstructed brings together two very unique styles of ar
t making. Brian Thomas is an assemblage artist whose deliberate work speak
s to his life long experience in art-making. His materials include found o
 bjects such as wood\, worn newspapers\, tree bark\, bee's nests\, and piec
es of rusted metal. Thomas' treatment of these objects brings them togethe
 r within a painterly\, two-dimensional\nmotif while retaining their natura
 l\, &ldquo\;as is&rdquo\; beauty. His strong interest in hiking\, camping\
, and exploring are complimented by his thirty-plus years working at a loc
al museum in Salem\, MA.\nSarah C. Rutherford creates mixed media installa
tion. Through found objects and locally foraged materials\, Rutherford tel
ls the story of her Grandmother who\, at age 30\, emigrated from Australia
to the North Shore of Massachusetts\, where she married and ultimately se
ttled. Rutherford explores wedding dress imagery throughout the installati
on with personal photographs as well as publicly donated digital reproduct
ions. Advanced Placement Art Students from Beverly High School will assist
Rutherford in the beginning stages of the installation. Rutherford curren
tly resides in Rochester\, New York.\nBoth Thomas and Rutherford offer the
viewer an intimate journey into the past\, while at the same time conside
ring future ideas and generations through delicately cut paper\, softly li
t viewing spaces\, and an appreciation for re-purposing.\nIf you would lik
e to donate reproductions of your personal photography from the early 1900
s to be included in this exhibition please contact curator Sarah Johnson a
 t sarahdotjohnson@gmail.com or call (802) 999 &ndash\; 5506. For more info

everly Cultural council\, a local agency which is supported by the Massach
usetts Cultural council\, a state agency.\n\nStart time: All are welcome a
