 , 2013 starting at 6:30 pm the West African Research Association (WARA) wi
 ll open Windows to West Africa\, an art exhibit celebrating Black History 
 Month at the Brookline Senior Center located at 93 Winchester Street 2nd f
 l. Brookline\, MA in collaboration with the City of Brookline and the Daug
 hters of Yemaya Collective. The art exhibit will include works from Burkin
 a Faso\, Cameroon\, Cote d'Ivoire\, Mali\, Niger\, & Senegal. The show is 
 being curated by Helen Banach of Boston University.   The West African Res
 earch Association promotes research on West Africa and the diaspora\, nurt
 ures collaborative scholarly relationships among individual scholars and i
 nstitutions on 	both sides of the Atlantic\, provides resources to researc
 hers\, and organizes programs to educate the broader public on African iss
 ues. WARA is collaborating with the Daughters of Yemaya Collective\, an or
 ganization of women artists and activists of African descent dedicated to 
 resisting oppression by creating spaces of healing\, empowerment\, and tra
 nsformation. This art exhibit is in honor of Black History Month\, to incl
 ude the narratives of Africans in Black History. This event will feature a
  speaker who will give an account of the Black experience on the other sid
 e of the Atlantic. The closing reception will take place on March 1\, 6:30
 &ndash\;8:30pm. These events are free and open to the public. Refreshments
  will be served provided by Bytes @ University Park\, a West African resta
 urant in Cambridge\, MA.   Come look through the Windows to West Africa. F
