 previous encounters with William Bolcom were in 2009\, when he was residen
 t composer for the NEC Preparatory School's contemporary music weekend\, '
 Today's Youth Perform Today's Music\,' and in 2011\, when he was in reside
 nce at NEC during rehearsals of his music by Boston Modern Orchestra Proje
 ct\, NEC's affiliate orchestra for new music.\nRecipient of the National M
 edal of Arts\, 2007 Composer of the Year by Musical America\, and multiple
  Grammy Awards for his ground-breaking setting of Blake's Songs of Innocen
 ce and of Experience\, William Bolcom is a composer of cabaret songs\, con
 certos\, sonatas\, operas\, symphonies\, and much more. He was awarded the
  1988 Pulitzer Prize in Music for his Twelve New Etudes for piano. NEC awa
 rded Bolcom an honorary Doctor of Music degree in 2001\, during inaugural
