 rop\, Alabama combines the siblings Lauren and Pascal Balthrop with former
  members of Rainer Maria and their Brooklyn neighbors. Artist Michael Arth
 ur accompanies the band on pen and ink\, illustrating the songs live with 
 the drawings projected behind the band in the vaudeville tradition of a 'c
 halk talk\,' a precursor to animation. The music is clever and darkly funn
 y and the art is astonishing to watch. The band 'combines breezy\, melody-
 driven pop with Neutral Milk Hotel-style existential wailing.' --Village V
