 02) and Jill Grimes (CFA '03). Akiyama skillfully carves quietly beautiful
  figures primarily from soft basswood\, which she then paints\, creating p
 sychological portraits that ebb between the personal and the allegorical. 
 Jill Grimes' meticulously rendered paintings move between delicate realism
  and soft abstraction. Her almost monochromatic canvases create an illusio
 nistic space that emphasize the delicacy of mark and surface. Exhibition r
