 larated East Coast audiences with live mash-ups of poetry\, dance\, and pe
 rformance art\, drawing fans such as Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson. A colla
 borative performance of movement and text that combines a re-working of An
 ne Carson's translation of selected poems by Sappho with dance\, Bracko is
  performed in four voices with two dancers\, choreographed by Rashaun Mitc
 hell of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. In Cassandra Float Can\, Carso
 n brings together text\, dance\, and video projection in a multidisciplina
 ry exploration of the divergence of translation through the mythic figure 
 of Cassandra\, the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl\, and the artistic visi
 on of Gordon Matta-Clark. Her most recent works include Decreation: Poetry
 \, Essays\, Operas and The Beauty of the Husband. A poet\, classics schola
 r\, and winner of the MacArthur &ldquo\;Genius&rdquo\; Award\, Carson is a
 lso the author of Eros the Bittersweet and translator of If Not Winter: Fr
 agments of Sappho. She resides in New York City. Dancers Rashaun Mitchell 
 and Marcie Munnerlyn are currently performing with the Merce Cunningham Da
 nce Company. Robert Currie is an artist who lives in New York City. A pane
 l discussion will follow the performance. Presented by the Newhouse Center
