 nded projects. Emphasis is on developing narrative and sustained cohesiven
 ess through strategies of approach\, selection\, sequencing\, and edit of 
 photographs for final presentation in a book/monograph\, exhibition or por
 tfolio.  Publish\, prepare for exhibition\, create a limited edition\, or 
 prepare a portfolio for graduate school. Critiques and field trips will be
  complimented by close examination of contemporary and classic fine art an
 d documentary projects by major photographers. The instructor's own profes
 sional career as a curator&ndash\;as well as photographer and photographic
  historian&ndash\; will add a unique dimension to this course. This is an 
 excellent and rare opportunity to work with a senior professor of photogra
 phy whose career in teaching photography and art history has influenced an
 d inspired many professional artists working today.  Bonnell Robinson is a
  highly respected professor\, curator and photographer. Robinson teaches s
 enior portfolio\, critical theory\, documentary\, art history and contempo
 rary trends in photography and film at the Art Institute of Boston\, where
  she also is Director of Exhibitions. She has worked with photographers an
 d artists from all media in her capacity as a curator. Exhibitions of note
  include photographers Duane Michals\, Eugene Richards\, Susan Meiselas\, 
 Luis Gonzalez Palma\, Alex Webb\, James Nachtwey.  Other exhibitions of no
 te include 19th Century Photography in Japan\, a retrospective of expediti
 onary photography in Egypt 1845-1998\, Felix Beato in China and Japan\, MA
 GNUM Photographers in War\, and Contemporary Cuban Art 1985-2000. Her own 
 photographs have been shown at Addision Gallery of American Art\,  Fogg Ar
 t Museum\, Harvard University\, Rhode Island School of Design\, Smithsonia
 n Institution\, Massachusetts Institute of Technology\, Irish Architectura
 l Archives\, Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas (Venezuela)\, and most 
 recently Rick Wester Fine Arts in Chelsea\, NYC.  Robinson has taught unde
 rgraduate and graduate photography at Mass Art\, RISD\, BU (photographic h
 istory)\, and Brandeis.  She has also taught at the Maine Photo Workshops.
  She is currently curating a show of Alessandra Sanguinetti's work.\n\nSta
