SUMMARY:Boston Baroque presents Gems of the French Baroque with Modern Dance
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Boston Baroque presents Gems of the French Baroque with Modern Dance=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/40595=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2009-03-06=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2009-03-07=0D=0A=0D=0AThe French Baroque repertoire is rich, fascinating, colorful, and too little heard in this country. This program offers a cross-section: orchestral and vocal music by Lully, the favorite composer of the Versailles Court, Charpentier's extraordinarily beautiful Missa Assumpta est Maria, and Rameau's exquisite Pygmalion, the myth of a sculptor who has fallen hopelessly in love with his stature of a beautiful woman. Pygmalion features dancer/choreographer Marjorie Folkman, former principal with the Mark Morris Dance Group with modern dances commissioned especially for this production. Program: Charpentier, Missa Assumpta est Maria Lully, vocal and orchestral selections Rameau, Pygmalion (opera-ballet).=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:8:00 pm
