A. Hanfmann Curator of Ancient Art, Harvard Art Museum/Arthur M. Sackler Museum=0D=0A=Enter Morgan Hall and find yourself in the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire. Installed in the atrium of this Harvard Business School building is a large and colorful Byzantine mosaic of the Greek sea goddess Tethys surrounded by different species of fish. The 4th-century mosaic, in stone and glass, once graced an octagonal pool in a bath building in Antioch, Roman Syria. Following its excavation in 1938, it was given to Harvard's Fogg Museum. Installation in the museum proved difficult, and the mosaic traveled on to a barn in Lincoln, MA, and an outdoor courtyard at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, DC, before finding a new home in Morgan Hall.=0D=0A=Participation is free, but registration is required=0D=0A=Harvard Treasures is a series offered to Harvard Art Museum members only that explores the university's architectural riches and art holdings beyond the museum.=0D=0A=To learn more about membership and to register for the tour, please call 617-495-4544 or email artmuseum_membership@harvard.edu.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:12:00pm-1:00pm
