SUMMARY:MWS Band Concert: "Lots of Guests"
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: MWS Band Concert: "Lots of Guests"=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/440734069=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2010-05-16=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2010-05-16=0D=0A=0D=0AAt this band concert, along with many unique pieces, you'll also see and hear many talented guests. In addition to such classic band works as Chance's Symphony No. 2 and Malcolm Arnold's Four Scottish Dances, you will also hear the world premiere of the MWS' latest commissioning project. Conductor Lewis Buckley has written a piece, Capriccio for Solo Trumpet and Tuba, to honor two important contributors to MWS' music-making over the years, former Assistant Conductor Robert Franzblau and current Associate Conductor James O'Dell. Franzblau will conduct the work, O'Dell will perform the tuba solo, and Boston area trumpet virtuoso Joseph Foley will be the trumpet soloist. Finally, students of the music educators in MWS will join us for the second half of the concert, which will close with Respighi's immensely powerful Pines of the Appian Way.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:2 pm
