SUMMARY:Singing For The Planet: Voices Against Climate Change
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Singing For The Planet: Voices Against Climate Change=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/440780389=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2010-06-12=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2010-06-12=0D=0A=0D=0AOn Saturday, June 12, three internationally acclaimed singers from widely varied musical traditions will join together to draw attention to the global climate crisis. Featured artists include: the Latin jazz stylings of the Mili Bermejo/Dan Greenspan duo, Hindustani classical vocalist Warren Senders, and the brilliant jazz singer Dominique Eade. All proceeds will go to the environmental organization www.350.org. “Singing For The Planet” was conceived as a way for creative musicians to contribute to the urgent struggle against global warming. Because the climate problem recognizes no national boundaries, the artists represent musical styles from three different parts of the globe. While Eade, Bermejo and Senders sing in different languages and genres, all are virtuoso performers sharing the core values of expression, emotion and honesty. And, of course, all three artists and their accompanists are committed to raising awareness of the potentially devastating effects of global warming. Their choice of beneficiary, 350.org, is focused on building global consensus on reduction of atmospheric CO2 levels — action which climatologists agree is necessary to avoid catastrophic outcomes. It'll be an evening of great vocal music, full of exquisite melody, compelling rhythm, expressive lyricism and daring improvisation — from three singers who are genuine masters of their craft.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
