SUMMARY:Jacoby & Pronk and Dancers
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Jacoby & Pronk and Dancers=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/440818063=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2010-07-21=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2010-07-25=0D=0A=0D=0AFormerly of Alonzo King's LINES Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet, Drew Jacoby and Rubinald Pronk have been bringing their out-of-this-world technique and intense chemistry to leading contemporary companies, including Complexions Contemporary Ballet and Morphoses. Jacoby and Pronk's 'knife-edged limbs, razor-sharp technique, and sensual chemistry' have catapulted them into the spotlight as a duo to watch (Dance Magazine). Accompanied by fellow international dance stars, Victor Mateos Arellano of Dresden SemperOper Ballett, Shirley Esseboom of Nederlands Dans Theatre, and American Ballet Theatre Principal David Hallberg, they perform a Jacob's Pillow exclusive program. This intimate evening includes 'Two', a world premiere by Lauri Stallings, performed by Jacoby and Hallberg; Christopher Wheeldon's 'Rhapsody Fantaisie'; Hans van Manen's 'Déjà vu', with music by Arvo Pärt; Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's acclaimed work, 'One', now transformed into a quartet; and a world premiere trio by Leo Mujic, set to music by Bach. Jacoby & Pronk's performances will also feature clips from 'Le Beau est Toujours Bizarre' by filmmaker Alvin Booth. 'Jacoby's steely strength and Pronk's fluid hyper-flexiblity defy the usual gender norms of a ballet partnership. They possess a brimming, almost menacing, energy, and the sense that they are daring each other is palpable.' - Dance Magazine=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:Wednesday, July 21 - Saturday, July 24, 8:15pm Saturday, July 24 & Sunday, July 25, 2:15pm
