With Sebastian Kim as Aladdin.=0D=0A==0D=0A=The timeless trouble-maker Aladdin is up to his old tricks again this spring at Wheelock Family Theatre in James Norris's adaption of the classic tale from The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, commonly known as Arabian Nights.=0D=0A==0D=0A=Written long before Disney's feature film saw its debut, Norris's adaption is an opportunity for children to see their favorite hero Aladdin in a story honoring the original tale. It's a chance for Aladdin-lovers to discover a new side to the lovable hooligan's journey, and even inspire research into the original text of the mysterious, centuries-old Arabian Nights, where “Alaeddin” first appears (in Chinese lore, no less). =0D=0A==0D=0A=Of course, some things never change. Aladdin still pursues the beautiful princess (Princess Adora), and is overjoyed to find the magical genie who will answer his wishes. Mischief ensues, however, when the Sultan—Adora's overprotective father—hears of Aladdin's intentions with his beloved daughter.=0D=0A==0D=0A=“Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp” lets children delight in the possibilities of a wish-granting genie, but—as “wonderful” as Aladdin's lamp seems to be—we must always learn to be careful what we wish for…because it might come true!=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:Friday nights at 7:30; Saturday & Sunday matinees at 3:00.
