SUMMARY:Warbler Migration at Mount Auburn Cemetery
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Warbler Migration at Mount Auburn Cemetery=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/441198851=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2011-04-13=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2011-04-13=0D=0A=0D=0ADescribed by Roger Tory Peterson as the “butterflies of the bird world,' the colorful group of songbirds known as the wood warblers return to Mount Auburn Cemetery each spring from wintering habitat as far away as South America. Many of these species breed here in Massachusetts, while numerous others are pausing to refuel on their way to the northern hardwood and boreal forests of northern New England and Canada. Warblers play an important ecological role in the woodlands they inhabit and have been instrumental in expanding our understanding of ecological niches. During this talk in Story Chapel, Brooks Mathewson will present his photography of these amazing birds while discussing their ecology and some of the reasons behind the severe declines they have suffered in the last half-century.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:6 p.m.
