In order to promote awareness of the endangered animals at the Zoo and across the world, Stone Zoo is hosting its third Annual Endangered Species Day Coloring & Writing Contest. Children are invited to draw a picture of their favorite endangered species or write a short piece about the animal that details why it is endangered and what we can do to help.   =0D=0A==0D=0A=Entries are now being accepted in the Animal Discovery Center until May 18 at 4:00 PM. The winners from each age group will receive a certificate of recognition and the honor of having their work framed and displayed in the Animal Discovery Center.=0D=0A==0D=0A=Endangered Species Day is observed nationally by numerous agencies, environmental groups, zoos, parks, aquariums, wildlife refuges, and other organizations on the third Friday of May, and is an opportunity for people across the country to learn about the importance of protecting our nation's wildlife.=0D=0A==0D=0A=WHO: Kids ages 3-10 are welcome to participate and will be judged in three age groups (ages 3-4, ages 5-7, ages 8-10).=0D=0A==0D=0A=RULES:=0D=0A=1. Submissions (one per person) must be on standard 8 ½ x 11 inch paper (letter size).=0D=0A=2. Pictures must include your favorite endangered species and should be done in pencil, crayon, or marker. NO chalk, paint, glue, or computer illustrations.=0D=0A=3. Written pieces can be presented in the form of a paragraph, poem, acrostic, or any other creative delivery and should be typed or neatly hand-written.=0D=0A=4.
