DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Bellflowers=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/441623163=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2012-07-23=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2012-08-26=0D=0A=0D=0AWhile the temperature soars outside, the courtyard remains cool to the eye with green of ferns, and the sounds of water in the fountains. The rarely seen fragrant chimney bellflower, Campanula pyramidalis, appears in the courtyard. Our horticulturalists grow this plant as a biennial from seed; it takes two years to grow to its six-foot maturity. Dark maroon-red leaved rubber plants and variegated Euonymus accent the display.=0D=0A==0D=0A=Campanula pyramidalis is native to southern Europe but has been cultivated in British greenhouses since the late '0s. The colloquial name, chimney bellflower, arose because it was fashionable to grow the plant in pots as a summer ornament for the fireless grate from the 17th to the 19th centuries. With deadheading, this plant can bloom for the whole of the summer.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:Wednesday-Monday=0D=0A=11am-5pm=0D=0A=Thursday until 9pm=0D=0A=Closed Tuesday
