World Premiere performances of THE FACE by Donald Crockett are scheduled to take place in the days before at the Japan America Theatre in Los Angeles August 25, 27 & 28, 2012. THE FACE is a multidisciplinary chamber opera (featuring music, film and choreography), which was conceived and created by Los Angeles-based composer Donald Crockett, on the faculty at USC Thornton School of Music, and USC poet David St. John. The performance also features conductor Gil Rose of Boston Modern Orchestra Project and the “ambitious and eclectic” (NY Times) Firebird Ensemble, also from Boston. =0D=0A==0D=0A=Set in Venice Beach, THE FACE is a deeply compelling story about the price of fame, desire and creativity. The central character, a once famous poet named Raphael, struggles with the recent loss of his lover/muse, while juggling the demands of a movie being made about his life and his increasing notoriety. The narrative is both passionate and raw in its candor, offering an insightful view of the human condition as experienced by an artist/poet.=0D=0A==0D=0A=Tickets for the Boston Performance are free through a generous donation from the Free for All Concert Fund.
